My Day Trip to Mott

I started off my work week with a trip to Mott North Dakota!

The weather was interesting, I couldn’t believe I was seeing snow in April, but the sun came out just in time.

to the grain elevator. It was a beautiful day to explore a sweet North Dakota town.

Hope you’re having a good work week!

It Might as Well be Spring Wishlist

This time last year I used to love walking through the Boston Garden inhaling crisp air and watching buds push up from the thawed dirt. Now a North Dakota spring seems to be an extension of winter but a girl can dream! Here are some pieces I have had my eyes on as I think of warmer weather.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven.

Hope you’re all enjoying the start of spring, whatever the weather may be.

Sweet Sunday Tunes

I love Sundays.

There’s something so peaceful about a day that is usually spent running errands, reflecting and resting after a crazy week. Today I’ve been catching up with family, cooking and cleaning up, but everyone needs a few hours of laziness every now and then right?

So here is the happy soundtrack that is fueling my super sweet and lazy Sunday.

Hope everyone has been having a nice weekend!

Drink it All In: Infused Water

Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m an avid coffee drinker. But I’ve been working on my health for the past few weeks and know that my diet could use some extra cups of water in my daily routine. Unfortunately I don’t really love the taste of plain water, so that’s where the fruit comes in!

This week I’ve been enjoying an infused mixture of raspberries, lemons and mint leaves. I think the addition of the fruit is a fun and summery way to spice up a cup of H20!

Do you like infused water? Or have any favorite fruit combos?

I just love Keiko Lynn’s make up looks and tips for staying glamorous all day. I usually don’t wear too much makeup outside of my anchoring job, but I’m always a sucker for red lipstick.

Wild, Wild, West Style

“It was here that the romance of my life began.”- Theodore Roosevelt on The Badlands

Much like Theodore Roosevelt, there has been something about the majestic skyline of Medora that has drawn an East Coast girl to explore the beauty of nature.

This past weekend, my boyfriend made the trip out to North Dakota, and time has truly flown by. IMG_1083

Despite the snow on the ground, I didn’t need a coat in the 30 degree weather! For the adventure I wore a lace top, black jeans, and my sixties leather boots. ND 10

My boyfriend’s favorite part of the ride were without a doubt, the bison. He kept having us loop back to just linger on the road as they enjoyed an afternoon meal.

What To Wear as a News Anchor And TV Reporter

This time last year, I had a pretty standard formula for picking out an outfit. I would start with black tights, retro pumps, a skater dress and of course a big beehive and bow.

Today I can’t really get away with wearing a lot of my everyday clothes to my TV job, but in the short time I’ve worked as a reporter and news anchor I’ve learned a lot about how to dress professionally, while maintaining elements of my personal style. Here are some tips for those of you who are curious what goes into a typical news anchor outfit!

Don’t Be afraid of Color

When I look in my closet, I easily have 10 little black dresses, which are wonderful but when working in a visual medium it’s always good to find colors that pop! Yet as I am very pale I typically have to pay attention to what washes me out, and what will bring out color in my face.

Stock up on Jackets

Blazers have always been a staple for the working journalist, yet you can still have fun with the jacket you choose.

Bring on the Bling

I know that jewelry can be polarizing. Some stations frown upon large necklaces, while others don’t mind as long as they aren’t distracting. I personally am a bit obsessed with statement necklaces, and how they pair with a solid colored dress!

Dress for Success

As much as I love dressing up as much as the next girlie girl, sometimes life a as a reporter is not too glamorous. From live shots in the snow, or rain, it’s always good to be prepared with nasty weather gear, that will keep you comfortable and professionally dressed.

Be a Bag lady

Now packing a bag when going in the field can require different items depending on the season and a variety of other factors but these are just some of the essentials I always have on hand.

I hope this post gives a bit of insight into building a television wardrobe! These tips could really translate to any working woman who enjoys dressing up everyday. If you have any questions about my job, these tips or any thoughts at all please feel free to comment below!
