Monday Musings: Burberry

A Little Bit of Background

  • In 1856, Thomas Burberry founded the company at the age of 21 with the aim of producing innovative functional outerwear.
  • For this post I’ll be focusing on the Burberry Prorsum pre-fall collection! I loved that Christopher Bailey found inspiration from the 1930’s WWII style Britain. The fabrics are modest, details are demure and the colorĀ paletteĀ is dark.

Outfit Number One

I simply love the preppy-ness of this first look! From the knitted sweater, to the tweed jacket, this look is perfect for transitioning into cooler Fall weather.

To achieve this look, start with black pants, a fun graphic sweater (don’t you just love the Scottie Dog!?), a tweed jacket and black ankle booties. For accessories try a leather watch, and simple black earrings.

Outfit Number Two

I have been obsessing over this coat! From the color to the bow belt, this would be such an amazing piece for dressing up when it’s cold.

To get this look for less cash, start with a wine red jacket (this one is only $32!), and add a waist with a black bow belt. To layer under this look, try a pair of fun black tights, a black skater skirt, and a loose white blouse.

Outfit Number Three

This look is perfect for any fall or winter internship, as it’s cute, tailored but super stylish!

Starting with a gray tweed skater skirt, add a cream blouse, a brown blazer and wrap it together with a black bow belt. For accessories layer black tights, ankle booties, a leather satchel and simple pearl earrings.
