“Elegance is the balance between proportion, emotion, and surprise.”

It might be a bit late for Valentine’s Day, but this Monday’s Musing’s features a great Italian designer who has created his own vibrant shade of red known as “Valentino Red”. The works of this designer bring the romance and glamor of the Golden years of Hollywood to stunning pieces and collections. Read on to learn more about this fabulous designer!

Facts about Valentino

  • Valentino Garavani was born in Voghera Italy, on May 11th, 1932.

  • At 18 years of age, he landed his first job with couturier Jean Dresses.
  • in 1960 he launched his first collection, and opened his first salon in Rome.

  • Later that year Valentino met his partner, Giancarlo Giametti, who later became the manager of commercial development for the House of Valentino.
  • Fun Fact: Valentino owns six pugs, Maggie, Molly, Milton, Monty Maude and Margot.

Valtentino’s Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection featured a variety of ladylike, precious, yet seductive looks. The runway was bursting with lace, flowers, and embroidery which gave the dresses a light feel, with the help of flat sandals and lace espadrilles.
